Love HOAs that do their job, looked for an HOA community
I didn't buy a nice place so some yahoo can paint his house across the street electric blue. Sadly, our (new) HOA isn't doing their job. We have a friend on another cul-de-sac who shares it with a house where 3 families have moved into one large house (related, I assume, not sure why they all moved in). They have a driveway that can accommodate their 6 cars, but not without someone having to move a car each time other cars need to leave. So they decided to park their cars on the street all around the cul-de-sac, in front of everyone else's homes. Which means now no one else has parking for guests aside from their own driveways (which often is OK) but also it is an eyesore AND our friend has had 2 notices from the mailman saying they can't deliver mail with a car parked that close to their mailbox (which this family does). The HOA bylaws state no street parking, period. The roads aren't wide enough, and while the cul-de-sacs are, they are still part of the neighborhood. So our friend, who is an elderly widow, is afraid to talk to the neighbors and doesn't want to cause a fuss. So we have had to, and the HOA is pondering and discussing with no actual action.
Also? That same house put up a basketball net in the cul-de-sac, also not allowed per HOA, in a small spot between driveways where a car can't park.
So yeah, I love effective HOAs. [Post edited by WestyHokie at 02/24/2022 6:55PM]
